Companies Hiring Actuarial Freshers
The employment sector of the Actuarial domain is very thin in India. But, with uttermost determination, suitable qualification and right guidance getting your first crack isn’t that difficult as you think. If you started clearing papers at your graduation level, you should aim to clear 4-5 papers of CT series and learn some technical skills which increase your chance to land you in a decent job. And, the one with 1-2 rightful internships tends to bowl over.
But, what work you should expect as a fresher? Let me break it in points for you:
✓ Enter data in computer system.
✓ Learn to use the software(s).
✓ Cross-check calculations.
✓ Read financial statements.
Additionally, stay updated with IAI website, they post vacancies of several companies for various levels (including freshers). Also, subscribe to their newsletter and The Actuary journal (which could be found on IAI website as well) where recent postings related to jobs can be identified.
Placement drives by companies for freshers are usually conducted during June/July/August and January/February. So make sure to stay updated about the vacancies coming in the following placement seasons as soon they are posted.
Try being active on LinkedIn, almost all the companies post their vacancies for internships and jobs there.
